What documents are required to rent a KTM motorcycle from GS Africa?

To rent a motorcycle, you’ll need a valid motorcycle license, a passport or South African ID, and a credit card for the security deposit. For international travelers, an International Driver’s Permit (IDP) is recommended.

Which KTM motorcycle models are available for rent?

GS Africa offers the KTM 790 Adventure R, a dual-purpose motorcycle built for both off-road and on-road adventure riding.

What makes the KTM a great offroad bike?

It offers excellent acceleration, responsive cornering, a comfortable suspension setup, cruise control, multiple riding modes, and a phenomenal braking system.

Are one-way KTM rentals possible with GS Africa?

Yes, we offer one-way KTM rentals throughout South Africa and neighbouring countries, allowing you to pick up your bike at one location and return it at another. Our main branch is in Cape Town, with additional depots in Johannesburg, Port Elizabeth, the Garden Route, Durban, Namibia, and Kasane. Please note that a return-to-depot fee applies.

How far in advance should I book my KTM rental?

If you plan to book during our high season (August to April), we recommend reserving at least two months in advance to secure your preferred model.

Is insurance included with KTM rentals?

Comprehensive insurance is included in the rental price; however, an insurance excess deposit is applicable. In the event of write-off, theft, loss, or damage, the maximum amount the rider is liable for is the insurance excess deposit. Any costs beyond this will be covered by the insurance company.

Are cross-border trips allowed with KTM bikes?

Yes, GS Africa supports cross-border rentals with advance arrangements. Countries include Namibia, Botswana, Lesotho, and Eswatini.

Can I rent gear along with my KTM motorcycle?

GS Africa offers a complete gear setup for rent, including helmets, jackets, gloves, boots, pants, and helmet intercoms. Please note that an additional dry cleaning fee applies to ensure all gear is fresh and clean for each use.

Is KTM suitable for solo adventure travel?

Absolutely. KTM motorcycles are built for solo and group adventure riding.

What extra parts are fitted to GS Africa’s KTM models?

KTM models come fitted with wider foot pegs, a one-finger clutch, cushioned grips, top box racks, and luggage racks. GPS units and phone mounts can be added at an additional cost, and optional upgrades such as handlebar risers are also available for a fee.

Can I bring a passenger on a KTM rental?

Yes, a passenger can be accommodated; however, as the bike is primarily designed for off-road use, it’s not recommended for passenger comfort over long distances.

Do KTM rentals come with luggage options?

Yes, all our KTM 790 Adventure R models can be fitted with a top box and side luggage units for an additional cost.

Does GS Africa offer guided tours with KTM bikes?

Yes, GS Africa offers both self-guided and fully guided KTM adventure mixed tours.

What happens if my KTM motorcycle breaks down?

GS Africa offers 24/7 roadside assistance and has a network of independent motorcycle contacts across South Africa who can provide timely support, including repairs or replacements when needed.

Is there a mileage limit on KTM rentals?

Your mileage allowance will depend on the duration of your rental. Please contact us for more details.
