What documents are required to rent a Yamaha motorcycle from GS Africa?

To rent a motorcycle, you’ll need a valid motorcycle license, a passport or South African ID, and a credit card for the security deposit. For international travelers, an International Driver’s Permit (IDP) is recommended.

What Yamaha models are available for rental at GS Africa?

We currently have the adventure-ready Yamaha Tenere XT 700 Z available, ideal for off-road travel and rugged terrain.

What tyres are fitted to the Yamaha models?

Yamaha models come equipped with ex-factory road-biased tyres. However, if your route requires more aggressive, specialized tyres—especially for trips to neighbouring countries—we can fit off-road-biased tyres for an additional daily cost.

What is the minimum age to rent a Yamaha motorcycle from GS Africa?

You need to be 25 or older to rent one of our Yamahas.

Does the Yamaha motorcycle rental include insurance?

Comprehensive insurance is included in the rental price; however, an insurance excess deposit is applicable. In the event of write-off, theft, loss, or damage, the maximum amount the rider is liable for is the insurance excess deposit. Any costs beyond this will be covered by the insurance company.

Are Yamaha motorcycles suitable for off-road riding?

Our Yamaha Tenere 700s are ideally suited for off-road travel. They offer better low-end torque, smoother acceleration, and improved manoeuvrability, making them a great choice for rugged terrain.

Can I travel across borders with a Yamaha rental?

Yes, GS Africa permits cross-border travel to Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Lesotho, Malawi and Eswatini with prior approval and border exit documentation.

Is riding gear available with Yamaha motorcycle rentals?

Yes, GS Africa offers a complete gear setup for rent, including helmets, jackets, gloves, boots, pants, and helmet intercoms. Please note that an additional dry cleaning fee applies to ensure all gear is fresh and clean for each use.

Does the Yamaha motorcycle have a USB charging port and can it be fitted with a phone or GPS mount?

Yes, the motorcycle is equipped with a charging port, and a phone mount and/or GPS system can be added for an additional cost.

The Yamaha Tenere 700 is suitable for carrying a passenger; however, it may not be the most comfortable option for long-distance travel if passenger comfort is a priority.

Do Yamaha rentals come with luggage systems?

Yes, all our Yamaha Tenere 700 models can be fitted with a top box and side luggage units for an additional cost.

Does a Yamaha Tenere 700 have rider aids?

Yes, the Yamaha Tenere features switchable ABS, allowing riders to disable it for off-road use. It does not include traction control, offering a irect and immersive riding feel.

What are the top speeds of the Yamaha T 7 models?

The top speed on a Yamaha Tenere 700 is about 180 – 210 km/h.

Can I customize my Yamaha rental package?

Yes, GS Africa offers custom itinerary planning, including gear selection, additional bike accessories, accommodation bookings, and route suggestions tailored to your preferences.

How far in advance should I book a Yamaha motorcycle?

If you plan to book during our high season (August to April), we recommend reserving at least two months in advance to secure your preferred model.

Are Yamaha motorcycles available for short-term rentals?

Our minimum rental period is one day (08:00–17:30), although you’re welcome to rent for a longer duration.
