Welcome to the Mother City, Cape Town! On arrival, you’ll be greeted by GS Africa’s designated shuttle driver, clearly identifiable by a sign displaying your name.
Enjoy a short 24 km (15-mile) transfer to your 4-star hotel, ideally located within walking distance of the iconic Victoria & Alfred Waterfront and just an 8-minute drive from GS Africa.

Arrival in Cape Town & Table Mountain Excursion
After enjoying your first evening in Cape Town, your motorcycle adventure begins at GS Africa’s headquarters, where you’ll collect your trusted steel companions for the next 11 days and receive a comprehensive tour briefing.
Once geared up, your first ride unfolds along one of Cape Town’s most iconic coastal routes—Chapman’s Peak Drive. This stretch winds its way through Hout Bay before continuing toward the renowned Cape Point Nature Reserve, historically a significant maritime waypoint for ships navigating between Europe and Asia.
Along the way, visit the charming African Penguin colony at Boulders Beach, where these delightful black-and-white residents—famous for their lifelong partnerships—never fail to captivate visitors.
From here, the route continues along another celebrated coastal road toward Hermanus. Your first overnight stay overlooks the historic Old Harbour, where rugged ocean views and the sound of the Atlantic provide the perfect backdrop to conclude your first day on the road.

TERRAIN GRADING
The route is 100% paved, with just a few metres of well-graded gravel roads leading to the entrances of the game reserves.
DISTANCE
This self-guided tour covers a total of 2,134 km along carefully planned routes. On select days, if you wish to spend extra time in the saddle can explore nearby circular routes, adding variety and flexibility to their journey.
On average, you will cover approximately 225 km per day, balancing time on the bike with opportunities to stop and explore. The longest stretch is about 445 km on Day 9, following a rest day to ensure you are refreshed, while the shortest ride is 123 km on Day 5, allowing ample time for sightseeing and relaxation.
The itinerary is designed to maximise your experience of South Africa by motorcycle, while also providing time to discover popular sights and cultural highlights on foot. This balance of riding and exploration makes for a self-guided adventure that is both rewarding and thrilling.
WEATHER
Cape Town has a Mediterranean climate – mild rainy winters and warm to hot summers (thanks to the ocean’s influence, temperatures remain mostly moderate and don’t reach extreme highs as a rule). This tour can be enjoyed year-round, with varying weather conditions.
