In just 7 days, experience the panoramic coastal and mountainous vistas together with exotic wildlife and the smiling friendly faces of your local South African Fisherman’s faces.
This South African motorcycle tour has been created to fully experience the core of South Africa – the scenic beauty of dense forests and rocky headlands, the best wildlife selection in the world, covering the coast with white soft sandy beaches, our delish seafood dishes and of course the friendly faces who catch the fish.
The Garden Route 62 Tour is a combination of the famous coastal Garden Route and Route 62.
Daily Distances and Destinations
Starting in Cape Town, hugging the coastline, stopping for a light lunch at a live working harbor, and then moving on to the famous Whale-Watching capital of South Africa.
On our way to the final destination for the day, a quick photo opportunity at your geographic southern tip of the African continent is awaiting you and your bike.
End your day at a tranquil little fishing village Arniston
Setting out inland to the Little Karoo about 480kms east from Cape Town, to the world’s ostrich capital and where Cango Caves is situated next to the Swartberg mountain range.
Before diving into the great adventure, a stop for a cold cooldrink sitting under hanging panties at a Karroo gem.
After spending some time in the bush with the wildlife, it is time to head to the lush natural beauty of Knysna situated on an estuary.
Here you can enjoy a boat cruise and visit the famous Knysna Waterfront just before sunset where many restaurants offer the best seafood in South Africa and are famous for their oysters.
Leaving the coast, we head inland to Prince Albert for dramatic mountain views. Experience the traditional South African Country farming life.
Rich in architectural history with a mix of Cape Dutch, Victorian and Karoo housing.
South Africa has one of the best safari destinations in the world. Its time to splurge on the award-winning Private Game Resort Lodge and Spa, Aquila.
Taking the N1 and stopping for a lovely lunch at a traditional Historical South Africa dorpie (meaning town in Afrikaans), making it in time to hopefully see The Big Five especially our nearly extinct Rhino’s sipping up the water.
On to one of South Africa’s smallest fisherman’s villages, Paternoster is know for its Crayfish and soft sandy beaches.
On our last day, we hug the coast, heading to Bloubergstrand – the best view for a picture opportunity of The 7 Wonders of the World, Table Mountain which is home to more plant species than in the entire United Kingdom.
Finishing the tour with a twisty ride along Champman’s Peak road, which is carved into red rock 300ft above sea level, guiding you to your first taste of South African History where the two Oceans meet, The Cape of Good Hope. This is where Portuguese navigator Bartolomeu Dias first sailed around the Cape in 1488, discovering the legend end of the Flying Dutchman ghost ship.

In Oudtshoorn visit Cango Caves, stroke a Cheetah, dive with crocodiles, ride an ostrich/visit the ostrich farm. In Hermanus (the worlds capital of whales) stop off for lunch whilst spotting whales – watching season is from June > December

Motorcycle options and terrain grading
MOTORCYCLE OPTIONS
Our motorcycles are the latest spec, low mileage, full-house models in pristine condition, as they are no older than two years and are fully serviced and maintained at official BMW Motorrad SA dealerships throughout Southern Africa, according to the manufacturer service schedule carried out by Germany factory certified technicians utilising the latest BMW approved diagnostics equipment.
We are the only company in Southern Africa that does not have an in-house workshop and relies exclusively on BMW Motorrad’s expertise and knowledge to keep our bikes in perfect condition and fully maintained. We have the full BMW GS range. Ranging from a light maneuverable BMW G 310 GS to a super comfortable BMW R 1250 GS Adventure.
All the bikes are fitted with engine protection, handguard protection and headlight lamp covers, stoneguard. All bikes have the upgraded 6.5 Inch TFT Screen display, keyless ride, centre stand, heated handgrips, Tyre Pressure Monitors and you can upgrade to a quick shift gear selector assistant on your BMW F 850 GS and BMW R 1250 GS.
TERRAIN GRADING
South Africa boasts some of the best warm sunny weather all year round, although we do have winter for around 3 – 4 month of the year, we enjoy sunshine 90% of the time. This makes South Africa and the Western Cape one of the best locations for Motorcycle tours and travels.
The Cape region has some what Mediterranean climate, while the rest of the country has a more tropical climates. During this tour, it is not the rainy season, so expect hot sunny days that reach about 28 degrees during the day and about 20 degrees at night. It is advisable to wear sunblock throughout the day to combat the African firry sun and for those who get a chilly quick, bring a light jacket for at night.
DISTANCE
The trip is a total of 1837kms. On average we do about 300kms per day. The longest day is about 330kms on Day 2 and the shortest of 183kms on Day 3.
The tour is based on seeing as much as possible by bike but also allowing time for you to go on excursions such as game drives or even if you decide to chose your own activity.
