Ride Grade Level System Explained

Ride Grade Level System Explained

Every tour is graded from 1 to 5 based on terrain, technicality and rider experience required — so you can choose the ride that matches your skill and appetite for adventure.

1

Relaxed & Rewarding

Easy

Rides are primarily on paved roads in good condition, with only occasional short dirt sections (such as at lodge or establishment entrances). Routes may include winding coastal and mountain roads, as well as high-altitude passes. While traffic conditions vary, local driving styles may differ from what you’re used to, so a degree of caution is advised.

2

Engaging & Stimulating

Moderate

Rides are mostly on paved roads, though surfaces can at times be narrow, potholed, or subject to heavy traffic. Dirt sections may be encountered, ranging from well-graded to hard-packed tracks. Routes can also include coastal and mountain roads, plus high-altitude passes where wind adds to the challenge. Local traffic norms may differ, so heightened awareness is essential.

3

Demanding & Testing

Challenging

These rides can be challenging but manageable with the right support. Expect longer sections of paved roads with sections of gravel roads, potentially in remote areas, loose gravel with ruts, or creek crossings. They require a steady pace and endurance. Previous off-road experience is recommended, though riders with limited exposure can still participate. Regional driving styles vary, so caution remains important.

4

Adventurous & Technical

Advanced

Routes will combine tar and gravel in an even split, with sections of loose sand, rocky tracks, or uneven terrain. Riders should be comfortable handling technical conditions and longer days in more remote areas. Strong off-road skills are essential, and the experience is best suited to confident, adventurous riders seeking a challenge.

Expedition & Endurance

Expert

Designed for experienced enduro riders, these tours involve extended distances, remote wilderness, and demanding terrain such as deep sand or rugged gravel. Strong off-road ability and stamina are required. These rides deliver the ultimate adventure experience, combining endurance with the reward of exploring untouched landscapes.
